Frequently Asked Questions

Insurance & Payment

Do you accept my insurance?

Yes, I am in-network with several major providers depending on your location.

  • Aetna: SC & NC

  • BCBS: SC & NC

  • Cigna/Evernorth: SC, NC, & ID

  • Optum: SC, NC, MN, & ID

  • Tricare East: (All applicable regions)

What if you are not in-network with my plan?

If I am not in-network with your specific plan, you may still be able to use your benefits. I can provide you with a "Superbill" (a specialized medical receipt) at the end of each month, which you can submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement. I recommend calling your provider ahead of time to ask about your "Out-of-Network Mental Health benefits."

Why might I choose to pay out-of-pocket instead of using insurance?

Many clients choose self-pay for increased privacy and control over their care. When insurance is used, I am required to provide a formal mental health diagnosis which becomes part of your permanent medical record. Insurance companies also have the right to audit your records and determine the number of sessions you are allowed. Paying out-of-pocket ensures that our work remains strictly confidential (within legal limits) and that treatment decisions are made solely by you and me.

Logistics & Telehealth

How does Telehealth work?

Telehealth is simple, secure, and convenient. We will meet via a HIPAA-compliant video platform that ensures your privacy. You do not need to be a "tech expert"—you simply click a secure link I send you, and we are connected. It allows you to receive high-quality care from the comfort of your home, office, or any private space with a stable internet connection.

What is your cancellation policy?

Your appointment time is reserved exclusively for you. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide at least 24 hours' notice. Appointments canceled with less than 24 hours' notice (or "no-shows") will be subject to a cancellation fee, as insurance does not cover missed sessions.

How long are sessions and how often do we meet?

Standard individual sessions are typically 50 minutes. Most clients begin by meeting weekly or bi-weekly to build momentum and establish a relationship. As we make progress toward your goals, we can adjust the frequency to fit your needs.

Clinical Approach & Faith

Do I have to be a Christian to receive counseling here?

No. While I operate from a Christian worldview, I welcome and respect clients from all faiths, backgrounds, and walks of life. My faith provides the foundation for my compassion and integrity, but it does not dictate the clinical tools we use. I utilize evidence-based clinical strategies to help you reach your specific goals, and I will never impose my personal beliefs on you.

Do you prescribe medication?

I am a licensed counselor, not a psychiatrist or medical doctor, so I do not prescribe medication. However, I believe in a holistic approach to health. If we determine that medication might be helpful for your symptoms, I can collaborate with your primary care physician or provide referrals to psychiatrists who can manage that aspect of your care.

What if I am in a crisis?

Please note that Revelation Counseling Center is not an emergency crisis facility. If you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency, having thoughts of harming yourself or others, or need immediate assistance, please call 911 or call/text 988 (the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) immediately, or go to your nearest emergency room.
